About Us

Chris and Sheena are on stage. Chris wears a fake mustache aviator glasses and a Hawaiian shirt. He sits on a chair in front of a blue glitter curtain. Sheena wears a red dress and a crude blonde wig. She shields her eyes and looks up to the sky.

We support, promote and create contemporary performances that are accessible and inclusive.

History

Drunken Chorus is a registered charity we curate inclusive and accessible festivals, events and creative experiences.

Drunken Chorus was founded in 2007, as a theatre company making touring performances. But we’ve developed and changed over the years – becoming a charity in 2015, and producing the first edition of A Bit Of A Do festival in 2017.

We’re all about supporting, promoting and creating interesting, contemporary and alternative performances that are accessible and inclusive. We do this by: providing support for disabled and non-disabled artists to create work and develop their artistic careers; running theatre workshops for local learning disabled and autistic adults; making and touring accessible performances; and producing our annual festival – A Bit Of A Do – featuring work by disabled and non-disabled artists.

Most of our work happens in Croydon – including our flagship project ‘A Bit Of A Do’ which is held at Stanley Arts in South Norwood. Our Disco Disco workshops for learning disabled and autistic adults take place in central Croydon.

We work with lots of other local organisations. We work closely with Club Soda as well as SLiDE Dance and Turf Projects. We also work with Willow Learning for Life, who run the front of house and box office during our festivals.

Past projects include: DRUNKEN NIGHTS (performance events in pubs); A Glimmer (artist support during the Covid pandemic); It’s All In Your Head (solo performance making project for young artists creating work about mental health); and a range of performances that have toured the UK and abroad.
